CoralTech
MY ROLE - SOLE UX/UI DESIGNER
DURATION - 12 WEEKS
CoralTech is a decentralized app that provides room-based settings for businesses, freelance teams, and other users to collaborate with each other on projects.
I was responsible for 0-to-1 product design, including creating an MVP dashboard, designing the home page, and presenting to stakeholders.
PROBLEM SPACE
What does an MVP look like for CoralTech?
CoralTech asked me to design a homepage and build a dashboard for their project collaboration platform. Their CEO and founder, Max Narayan, specified that finding teams, inviting team members, and communicating between teams were top priorities for creating a minimum viable product.
COMPETITIVE AND COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS
What were companies doing right?
I conducted a competitive analysis of competing freelance marketplaces, Upwork and Fiverr. I also conducted a comparative analysis on nondirect competitors, Discord and Slack. I found it’s important to have navigation that’s interactive and in familiar areas (top or left), users should be provided with opportunities to undo actions, and user success should be rewarded.
INSIGHTS
Key features need to be easily accessible when users log into the dashboard.
Users need to be able to conveniently access features like chat with my team, invite teammates, and send a work request to other teams immediately after they log in. I decided that creating a clear and interactive navigation menu would allow this ease of access.
ITERATIONS
Invite Modal
I went with b. invite modal with close icon because it simplifies the interface. Isolating the close action is important because it prevents users from closing the modal by accident.
Confirmation Message
I decided to go with b. detailed confirmation message because it shows users more information and it provides an option for users to invite more team members.
Colors
I experimented with different colors while creating the UI. I received feedback from the client that the purple theme was too bright and video game-like. Therefore, I went with a. dark theme which was more serious, professional, and in line with the company’s mission.
FINAL DESIGN
Quick Log in
Log in is easy and straightforward. Users can access the dashboard quickly from the homepage.
Simple Invite Process
Invite button leads users to a pop up. Finishing inviting team members results in a success message.
Finding Teams
Search bar displayed at the top offers easy access for users to find teams. User can go into each team’s page and request a quote.

Next Steps
Conduct usability testing
I would like to test the prototype on real users to find any usability issues and fine-tune the product for launch. I would measure how much time it takes for users to log in, invite team members, and find new teams. Ideally, users should be able to perform key tasks without any errors and in as few clicks as possible.
Design a digital wallet and payment feature
All of the competitors have a payment function to pay workers for projects and to get paid for your work, which is why I would like to build a wallet feature next. This would include a crypto wallet where users can send, receive, and store their digital currency.
Learnings and Key Takeaways
0-1 product design
I’m really proud to have worked on such a large-scale project from the ground up. I worked with engineers in an agile framework and learned a lot about the back end of product development. While wireframing, I challenged myself to come up with multiple iterations of each design to show different design decisions and better communicate my ideas. If there was anything that I could’ve done anything better, it would be to expand on the request a quote modal and include more input fields for specific work requests. The final prototype that I presented to the client and other stakeholders received really great feedback. I’m thankful to have worked with an amazing team on this project and I’m excited about the impact this product will have on freelance teams across the globe!
